The model number MW500-1303 provides a clean, stable 5.1-5.9GHz range with -2.2dBm +/- 0.5dB output from a compact 0.500" sq. x 0.15" sm package requiring only +3.5V @ 16mA supply. Phase noise is -103 dBc/Hz @ 100KHz offset. (14dB lower than typical IC VCOs). Tuning voltage range is 1-9 volts. However the unit can be specified to cover any 270MHz within the 5.1 to 5.9GHz band from 0.5 to 3.5 volts tuning. The VCO is pure fundamental mode (no subharmonics or spurious signals). The unit will operate over a supply range of +2.5 to +5.0 volts; with 5V supply, power output is +2.5dBm +/-0.5dB. Load pulling is only +/-8MHz with 12dB RL mismatch, any phase. The VCO is capable of extremely fast modulation ; mod. BW is over 400MHz (-3dB). These features make the VCO ideally suited for low cost license free radios including the IEEE 802.11a high speed WLAN standard. However, the U-NII bands allow any modulation scheme ; with band limited FM, 40MHz of uncompressed data can be cleanly transmitted.
