Micronetics Enters Joint Venture to Develop Wave3GTM: a Next Generation Communication Test Platform
Hudson, NH -- (BusinessWire) -- October 25, 2000 -- Micronetics Wireless, Inc. (Nasdaq/Noiz) announced today entry into a strategic joint venture to develop its next generation Wave3G Communications Testing Platform.

Micronetics/Equipment Group and Hollis Electronics Company have entered into an agreement to codevelop its Wave3G Platform technology. Dr. Moeness Amin of Villanova University has been engaged to assist in the theoretical framework to support the Wave3G Communications Testing Platform.

The Joint Venture will develop this platform for testing noise impairments and channel simulation of current and next generation 3G wireless communications systems. A series of testing products for markets including Mobile Handsets for Cellular and PCS, 3G Broadband, Wireless Local Loop, Wireless LAN, and Digital TV, will be developed under the Wave3G Platform.

Ralph Marrone, Vice President of Micronetics/Equipment, stated, The Wave3G Platform represents our response to the shift in the fundamental way that our customers are evaluating the cause of impairments in wireless/wired communication equipment and systems. Traditional noise and simulation tools typically allow a user to verify if their products meet the test requirements of the associated standard, but do not provide the analysis tools for understanding the root cause of problems."

Responding to the demands of our customers for a more flexible product, the Wave3G Platform allows a user to customize the characteristic and shape of the noise and the profile of the channel simulation. The Wave3G Platform enables customers to better characterize the performance of the product under test as well as support existing and next generation system test requirements."

"To complete development, we teamed with Hollis Electronics because they bring the DSP technology and digital channel simulation experience and expertise necessary to develop the Wave3G Platform. Dr. Amin of Villanova University provides the theoretical support for the technology."

Michael Bosowski, President of Hollis Electronics, stated, "The changing demands of the market drove our decision to team with Micronetics. They provide strong knowledge of the customer and applications and the forces that drive them, as well as a sound understanding of distribution and sales channels. Collectively, we believe Micronetics, Hollis and Dr. Amin provide a solution that combines theory, technology and development experience together with a strong and current understanding of customer requirements."

Headquartered in Hudson, NH, Micronetics manufactures and designs innovative test equipment and test components that are used to test the strength, durability and integrity of communication signals in communications and internet infrastructure equipment. Micronetics also manufactures microwave and radio frequency (RF) components and integrated subassemblies used in a variety of commercial wireless and military products. Micronetics' products, some of which are patented, are used in or test communication and internet infrastructure equipment (including wireless base stations, repeaters, and cable modem equipment), fixed terminal point-to-point/multi-point data radios, consumer subscriber products (cellular/PCS/satellite handsets), home networking equipment and military/aerospace platforms (satellite communications, electronic warfare and electronic counter-measures). Micronetics serves a diverse customer base, including some of the world's leading technology companies, such as Adtran, Airspan, Alcatel, Cisco, Comsat, Daimler Benz Aerospace, Datron, Ericsson, Hughes, L-3 Communications, Lockheed Martin, Lucent Technologies, Metricom, Motorola, NEC, Nortel, Newbridge Networks, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and Teradyne.

Headquartered in Amherst, NH, Hollis serves a global customer base including INTELSAT, EUTELSAT, AT&T, Allied-Signal, Analog Devices, Aydin, Hughes Network Systems, JPL, NASA, Navigation Sciences, Sprint, and The J.J. Wilbur Company. Hollis is an internationally recognized manufacturer of satellite test equipment and provider of research and development support services, with a ten year history of developing analog and digital signal analysis and processing systems. Hollis' expertise in satellite communications technology and analog circuit and system design in general is supported by the acceptance of Hollis' INTELSAT-endorsed Burst Mode Link Analyzer. The power, precision, and flexibility of Hollis' DSP Platform product line amply demonstrates its expertise in digital signal processing theory and ability to implement complex real-time DSP algorithms in state-of-the-art processors. Hollis' Bit Error Rate Test Set (BERTS) illustrates its ability to develop products utilizing cost effective, highly integrated, high-speed ASIC technology. This technology allows the BERTS to be quickly customized to user specific requirements and results in a very cost effective and easy to use product tailored to a specific application that is less expensive than standard off-the-shelf products.
