FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Micronetics Introduces Wave3GTM: a Next Generation Communication Test Platform
The Wave3G platform is believed to be the most advanced testing platform of its kind with key features including multi-path fading for WCDMA, cdma2000, and cdmaOne, together with an internal architecture including a built-in digital power meter, dual mode noise source and provisions for AGC (automatic gain control). This platform is designed for testing noise impairments and channel simulation of current and next generation 3G wireless communications systems.
The Wave3G platform is a joint venture between Micronetics/Noise and Test Solutions Group and Hollis Electronics Company. The Joint Venture was formed to develop a series of testing products for markets including mobile handsets for cellular and PCS, 3G Broadband, Wireless Local Loop, Wireless LAN, and Digital TV. Dr. Moeness Amin of Villanova University is assisting the Joint Venture in the theoretical framework to support the Wave3G Communications Testing Platform technology.
Ralph Marrone, Vice President of Micronetics/Noise and Test Solutions Group, stated, "The Wave3G Platform represents our response to the shift in the fundamental way that our customers are evaluating the cause of impairments in wireless/wired communication equipment and systems. Traditional noise and simulation tools typically allow a user to verify if their products meet the test requirements of the associated standard, but do not provide the analysis tools for understanding the root cause of problems. Our customers have demanded a more flexible product and the Wave3G Platform is our response: it allows a user to customize the characteristic and shape of the noise and the profile of the channel simulation. The Wave3G Platform enables customers to better characterize the performance of the product under test as well as support existing and next generation system test requirements."
A demonstration of the "Look and Feel" of the Wave3G Platform can be seen at Booth 5543 at the CTIA Wireless 2001 in Las Vegas, NV on March 20-22.
Headquartered in Hudson, NH, Micronetics manufactures and designs innovative test equipment and test components that are used to test the strength, durability and integrity of communication signals in communications and internet infrastructure equipment.
