FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 4, 1998MICRONETICS WIRELESS RECEIVES ORDER TO SUPPLY VCOs FOR WIRELESS RETAIL SYSTEMHudson, NH -- Micronetics Wireless, Inc., (NASDAQ:NOIZ) announced today that it has received the first release on a multi-year order to supply Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCOs) for a new satellite-based credit card authorization system. VCOs are components widely used in today's wireless systems to direct RF frequencies to the appropriate channels during voice, data or video transmission. The VCOs used in this particular application are from Micronetics family of custom, low phase noise VCOs, designed to deliver high performance and solid reliability by reducing phase noise (which can negatively impact the quality of wireless transmission) to a minimum. In May, 1997, the company was designated the primary supplier of VCOs for the initial phase of an international satellite communications system designed to gather environmental data. Both projects are expected to continue over the next several years as these systems gain marketplace acceptance. Headquartered in Hudson, NH, Micronetics Wireless develops and manufactures specialized RF components and test equipment that's designed to help OEMs and service providers deliver high quality, reliable communications services. The company holds several U.S. patents, including one covering the design and high volume manufacturing methodology for low phase noise VCOs.
